Senseless...

Love is such a senseless thing,
It makes one believe
In almost everything
Even the promise of a ring.

Hear now of a girl I’ll tell.
She makes my days seem so swell,
Even if to hear her voice so sweet
Or have her hug me when we meet.

When through her hair, mine fingers, shall their way find;
Her head, she rests upon mine palm.
Her subtle smile, one of its kind
Embedded, forever, in memory, warm and calm.

Her scent, unmistakable,
Lingers on in mine mind’s depository.
If I shall one day lose my way
Her scent, shall be my directory.

In her eyes, I see myself
Building with her a life,
One that won’t just be placed upon a shelf,
One that includes her...my wife.

The Little Things She Won't Ever Say...

Love can be a pain at times;
It can seem like the best present to give,
It can also seem like the worst of crimes,
But it'll certainly make you want to live.

There's this girl I now know
Who really won't let herself show,
Who always tries to play it cool,
Trying not to look a fool.

She thinks herself weird
Which I find rather strange
Because she's the most normal girl
I've met with an impressive vocal range.

She smiles and laughs out loud;
She cherishes love, strong and proud;
She longs for someone to always be there;
So that she'll know they care.

She wants to feel like she's worth the time
And the effort given to be loved in life;
To find someone who'll set her beauty in rhyme,
Someone who'll see her as the perfect wife.

She may be selfish, unreasonable and hard to understand,
But she wants a guy who is able to comprehend;
That by her man she will stand
If with others she doesn't have to contend.

Though now she's tired and exhausted,
Taken by fatigue and insecurities abound.
She is looking for him who'll keep her laughing;
He who will be the one...who'll stick around.

There's so much more for me to write
About this beautiful angel in every way,
But let's save it for another night,
The little things she won't ever say...

Your Heart...

I may not know the words to say
That will take your breath away,
Nor do I know what to do
To show you how I feel is true.

I may not know how to make it last
But you know of my chequered past.
Yet, you’re still here talking to me
That’s infinitely more than what I could foresee.

You’re looking for signs that this might be true;
That I truly do love you.
You don’t know if you’ll feel the same
And may think this is all just a game.

Verily, while you’ve been through hell
And there are some things that you can’t tell;
It isn’t because you don’t trust me well,
You wanna be sure that your heart has a place for me to dwell.

Nonetheless, I’m still here by your side
And by the laws of etiquette and courtesy shall I abide.
Far from wanting to be a bad dream or living nightmare,
You’re looking for someone with whom everything you’ll share.

I am not the sort to do the whole
“I will promise you everything” part
But, honey, I will not fold
For in this hand, I want to win your heart…

Last Reprieve...

If one day,
I forget all words to say,
And I should lose my way,
By my side, I pray you'll stay.

Remember all the times you smiled,
Remember the joy you felt when
We talked of plans for the future.
Most of all, remember how much I loved you then.

If one day, I should go,
I pray you know how much I love you so.
Know that I am at peace then
And know that by your side, I will stand.

Remember all that we used to do,
Remember that you were loved too,
Remember all that I'd write for you,
Most of all, remember that everything I said was true.

If one day, you should find yourself alone,
Think of the times we'd talk on the phone.
Think of how we'd often speak in loving tones,
With words so sweet, we'd feel soft to our bones.

Worry no more and rest your weary head,
For it is no fit way to honour the dead.
Laugh, dance, sing, and please try
Your very best not to cry.

If one day, I should leave,
Wear not your sadness on your sleeve.
I beg that you do not grieve
You were my one last reprieve.

Second Chance...

It’s not often that I find myself in love,
But this time it is true.
For every time we talk,
I feel myself falling even more for you.

I’m sure you’ve heard all the lines before,
About how pretty you are,
Or how much they truly adore you,
Or perhaps even compared you to a beautiful star.

I know not of what I can offer you,
Only to say that what I feel is true;
That maybe, just maybe, it’ll last your whole life through
And that you’ll have a life free of rue.

It’s not just the sweet sound of your voice
Or the way you smile;
But when you laugh in joy,
Oh, how you make it all worthwhile.

I haven’t had much luck this life
And though I’ve been through untold strife;
I’m still afraid I’ll scare you away
With the things I do or say.

Here’s to hoping you’ll take my hand,
Whisper to me that you understand,
That everything will be fine
And that you’ll be mine.

In return, I promise to stay
By your side, come what may,
To make you happy each and every day,
To never stray,
And to cherish you in every way.

For You...

Something in your eyes
And the way you look tonight.
Makes me smile and forget my sighs
Honey, you put the moon to shame in its light

Using only your skin, so fair.
It’s always these little things
Like how you always seem to care;
It’s all these little things that dulls life’s stings.
